Short Bio

Dr. Puneet Dwivedi is a Professor and the Glenn’65 and Heather Hilliard Endowed Chair in Environment Sustainability in the Department of Forestry and Environmental Conservation at Clemson University. His interdisciplinary research integrates forest policy, economics, and sustainability to address contemporary challenges in natural resource management, with a focus on family forest landowners, forest-based ecosystem services, and forest-based products.

Prior to joining Clemson University (Fall 2024), Dr. Dwivedi held academic appointments at the University of Georgia (Fall 2013 - Summer 2024) and postdoctoral positions at the University of Illinois (2012 - 2013) and Yale University (2010-2012). He holds a Ph.D. in Forest Policy and Economics from the University of Florida (2006-2010), an MBA in Forestry from the Indian Institute of Forest Management (2003-2005), and a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from the Institute of Engineering and Technology, Devi Ahilya University (1999-2003). He did work as a Program Office in the Natural Resources Division of the Winrock International India (2005-2006), before starting his doctoral studies at the University of Florida.

Dr. Dwivedi has mentored over 40 graduate students and postdoctoral researchers, published more than 160 peer-reviewed articles, and secured over $8 million in external funding. He serves on editorial boards of Global Change Biology Bioenergy. He was an Editor for Forest Policy and Economics, Trees, Forests and People, Scientific Reports, Plos One, and Small-Scale Forestry. He has been recognized with several awards, including the 2024 Sustainable Forestry Initiative Conservation Leadership Award.

He is committed to advancing inclusive, science-based solutions for sustainable forest management and frequently engages with landowners, agencies, and non-profits through workshops and outreach initiatives.
